New Orleans Thrift Store Shopping Day One
New Orleans thrift stores are in abundance with great finds throughout the city. A majority of the thrift stores will help you find some great new-to-you clothing that won’t break the bank. Also, some of the thrift stores sell furniture at discount prices. I can spend an entire day shopping at thrift stores searching for the perfect deal.
On my first thrifty day I headed out to my favorite thrift store in the city, Bridge House. They have two locations and I especially enjoy shopping at the store on Airline Highway. I always find some amazing one-of-a-kind items at this store for unbelievable prices. On this trip I purchased seven items for less than $50.
I found a new floppy hat for Fall months. A brand new 100% silk night gown from the Hong Kong Silk Company. Also, I found two vintage items. A silk embroidered Chinese style jacket and a leather Berber jacket Made in Italy great for costuming. I also found a brand new RFID protector wallet by Pacsafe for $2.95. My favorite score were two new pair of shoes in my size. Leopard print shoes by Naturalizer and Aertek ankle bootie heels. Both in like new condition.
Bridge House has daily deals where some items are 75% off and rest of items are 50% off marked price. They also accept credit cards.
Time to eat:
After shopping for a few hours I was starving so I drove down the road to La Fiesta Latin Restaurant. If there’s one thing I love eating it’s pupusas. If you don’t know what they are they are like stuffed corn flour pockets with cheese, pork, and/or beans. I usually get the “Anita’s Favorite”. They also give you chips and salsa to start for free. My meal cost $9.95 before tax and tip. I also ordered a Horchata. With tip it came out to $16.21. Most menu items are in the $10 range.
They also have 5 Pupusas for $5 (to go only) and Happy Hour 3 – 6 p.m. daily where House Margaritas and Coronas are $2.50. Fiesta!
After lunch I decided to stop by one of the newer New Orleans thrift stores on my way home. I headed down Airline Highway to North Labarre road which heads into Old Metairie. Once on Metairie Road I took a right and drove to Unique Boutique by Goodwill. It’s somewhat new and I assumed similar to the other Goodwill boutiques I’ve been to in other cities.
The store itself was a decent size and they did have some high end items in a case, one example is Prada. I didn’t find any great deals for myself. But, it’s a great place to find an affordable party dress, business casual for women, or clothing/suits for men.
It was a great day of thrifting in New Orleans thrift stores which will continue in the future.
