French Quarter Restaurants with Cheap Eats in New Orleans

The French Quarter is a top destination site for tourists when visiting New Orleans. Therefore, it has top tourist prices in many of the restaurants throughout the French Quarter. We compiled a quick list of five French Quarter restaurants with cheap eats in New Orleans. Most of these places are great hangover fixer-uppers or late night alcohol soaker-uppers. I also know from being a resident that it can often times be difficult to know where to eat on your lunch break when getting that new job in the Quarter.

Either tourist or local, you’ll have a little more money in your wallet to enjoy yourself around New Orleans.

Mena’s Palace

200 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130
Hours: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (close 1 p.m. on Sunday)
This place has been serving for over 60 years now and recently remodeled. As soon as I saw the menu I knew this was an old fashioned New Orleans’ eatery. Nothing fancy and real New Orleans food. And by that I mean the Italian influence on New Orleans’ food can be found on the menu.

Mena’s Palace has daily specials with a large amount of food for a very good price for the French Quarter. I ordered the Roasted Chicken Regonato special for $10.50 and I ended up with two meals. Other Daily Specials include red beans and rice, shrimp creole, jambalaya, roast leg of pork, and baked lasagna depending on the day of the week.

Breakfast can run you starting at $7.50 for a double egg sandwich. If you want a typical Breakfast deal there’s a two egg special with grits or hashbrowns and toast for $8.50.

Lunch will run a little more averaging $10 – $14 dollars. Lots of salad options if you’re giving your diet a break from all that fried food goodness of New Orleans.
