Where to find frozen alcoholic drinks in the French Quarter, New Orleans

2025 guide to finding
frozen boozy drinks
in New Orleans.

A little History of frozen drinks in New Orleans

Originating in Cuba, the classic daiquiri, contains a simple blend of rum, lime, and sugar. It sailed into New Orleans with the city’s love for spirited concoctions. In the 1980s, local entrepreneurs revolutionized the drink by introducing the frozen daiquiri, using slush machines to churn out endless flavors, from strawberry to piña colada to fun titles such as the Crawgator. Drive-thru daiquiri shops quickly became a New Orleans icon, embodying the city’s playful approach to cocktails and liberal open-container laws. Today, the frozen daiquiri is a beloved, ubiquitous treat synonymous with the Crescent City’s festive, freewheeling spirit coupled with sultry Summers that seem to drag on. Frozen alcoholic drinks have become the norm here in New Orleans. Things are starting to cool off this time of year but that humidity will keep you sweating until late October.

When the sultry embrace of summer descends upon New Orleans, there’s no better way to escape the heat than with a frosty, spirited concoction in hand. And you can always get the “to-go” version to help beat the humidity and heat while sightseeing.
The city’s legendary cocktail culture meets Southern playfulness in a dazzling array of frozen alcoholic drinks, from classic daiquiris swirling in neon-lit machines to refined craft cocktails that blend tradition with a chill. Here are the nine best frozen alcoholic drinks in the French Quarter of New Orleans to help you cool down and chill on some History.

9 Best Frozen Alcoholic Drinks & Where to Find Them in the French Quarter

Manolito Blenders

Manolito

Jazz Daiquiri

$$$

Manolito is one of those fancy crafty cocktail bars that honors the craft of the original daiquiri from Cuba. I love the Jazz Daiquiri at Manolito. It’s a frozen cocktail that feels both smooth but feisty. It has coffee beans that add a slight crunch that makes every sip interesting.
Bacardi Añejo Cuatro, Crème de Cacao, Coffee Beans, Lime...$14
You can also double it up for double the trouble. The Manolito Swampwater might have you feeling like you're wading through the swamps in no time.
Green Chartreuse, Pineapple, Basil, Lime $30

Frozen Pimm's Cup from Napolean House

Napolean House

Frozen Pimm's Cup

$$$

The original Pimm's Cup was invented in London around the 1840s and a century later the Napolean House created a twist on the recipe to make it more New Orleanian. Lemonade, 7-Up, and a cucumber garnish. You can get a wide variety of Pimm's Cup at Napoleon House including a flight. But, they make a frozen Pimm's cup, $15, that's light on calories and booze if you're trying to pace yourself on your cocktail journey. Or enjoy it with a meal. Napolean House is one of my favorite restaurants in the Quarter for affordable New Orleans dishes.

Voodoo Purple Drank

Lafitte's Blacksmith

Voodoo Purple Drank

$$

The frozen Voodoo Daiquiri, a.k.a da Purple Drank because it's going to slow your roll. It's Bourbon, Everclear, and a little healthy grape juice. If you're looking to forget half your night and wake up being told stories of you fighting goblins in Pirate's Alley go for more than one of these concoctions. But, don't say we didn't warn you.
Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop is the oldest bar building still serving drinks in the U.S. The place has a lot of history, which makes sipping the Purple Drank there even cooler. Plus, the vibe is relaxed and friendly, a great spot to hang out and people watch. $11

Molly's and Erin Rose Frozen Irish Coffee

Molly's / Erin Rose

Frozen Irish Coffee

I've been hanging out on Lower Decatur since the '90s and I feel like this drink has been around forever. Molly's on the Market has one of the OG of frozen Irish Coffee style drinks in the Quarter.
Whisky, 1/2 and 1/2 cream, ice cream mix, coffee cold brew and more. It's not light on the calories but it's light on the price. Last I checked the cost was around $8.
You can also find this drink in the French Quarter at its sister bar, Erin Rose, where it'll cost you $4 as part of their "Wake Up! And Live!" special every day 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Whenever I have a conversation with friends who moved away one of the first things they say to me when coming to visit is, "I miss Seperators. We need to go to Good Friends".
It’s a unique mix that feels like a boozy soft serve frostee ice cream.
Drinks prices are very affordable here. Their Happy Hour will run you $3.75 for Well Drinks and runs forever Monday -Friday 1 PM - 9 PM. I haven't been by in a year but I'd say a Seperator is no more than $10 these days.

Boozy Ice Cream Shakes

One of my favorite spots for a frozen drink in New Orleans is Gazebo’s. They serve boozy ice cream shakes that are both creamy and refreshing. The mix of alcohol and ice cream makes them perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
The Grasshopper is a drink invented here in New Orleans and Gazebo's will make you a frozen version of it. Vodka, créme de menthe, créme de cacao ,Hersheys chocolate syrup & ice cream. That minty freshness helps you feel a few degrees cooler in the heat.
They also have several other flavors to try.
